Courthouse wifi stinks. Hope to still have race report up today sometime, at least day 1.
Jury duty this morning. If I can’t get excused the SF half marathon race recap will happen sooner :-)
Another half marathon in the books. In our rush to get home for a father’s day dinner I blanked out and forgot to post I finished the race. Had some bad calf and leg cramps towards the end but finished. I did miss my PR by a minute or so but feel good all things considered. Race recap coming soon.
2:36:38 unofficial time.
Being the first one…well girl to use the porta potty at a race.
after a not so great weekend…..
I was having a great week last week with my running. The Love Run 10K was difficult with recovering from a cold but I performed fairly well. Then I decided to go for 2 runs on National Running Day. The morning one was tough but fun. The second one was even tougher but the downhill fast. Unfortunately, I think it might have been my downfall for the rest of the week. I didn’t feel too much pain Wednesday night, but at work on Thursday everything seemed to just ache, especially my hip and back. Despite knowing better too I went ahead and ran at the Fun Pub Run the local running store put on this past Thursday. The run didn’t go too badly, with the help of meds and running with hubby, but did I pay for it on Friday. I have an extreme high tolerance for pain so when I’m hurting it’s for a good reason and boy was I hurting. I left work early and got home and took a lot of meds to try and help the situation but I was not at all comfortable. Saturday was probably the worst day as more pain, more meds and that just led to an increase in nausea and a total lack of appetite. I have to say I have the best husband and he took good care of me and when I felt like eating he was right there making it for me. I could tell he felt helpless and there wasn’t much I could do myself. By Saturday night though I turned a little corner and my appetite returned but we still took it easy with only chicken rice soup and some biscuits hubby made. By Sunday morning I was feeling a lot better but still a little achy. I did manage to sleep mostly through the night and this morning I’m nearing feeling back to normal but not quite there.
Taking it easy is now the official plan for the week. I don’t want to jeopardize the 2nd Half Marathon this Sunday in San Francisco. So walking will be about it and perhaps some stretching at the gym and the foam roller. Today I’ll ease back with another walk with our Matilda and perhaps another one on my own. I thought I might run on Wednesday morning but hubby has talked me out of it and I think it’s for the best. So happy to be feeling better!
